Deepak Pareek is an agriculture economist, technology strategist and author based in Ahmedabad, India, with more than 25 years of experience across agriculture, technology and markets in over 30 countries. An engineer by training, he began in information and communications technology consulting, advising clients including the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank, and wrote books on telecommunications published by Wiley and CRC Press. He moved into agriculture as co-founder and chief executive of MyCrop Technologies, a farmer-advisory platform named a World Economic Forum Technology Pioneer in 2018; its DigiAgri platform was a finalist in UNDP’s Cultiv@te programme. He has served as chief executive of AgriWatch, an agricultural market-intelligence firm, and founded HnyB Tech-Incubations. He speaks at international forums on food systems and agricultural technology, including the 2026 Africa Food Systems Forum in Kigali. The Political Economy of the Indian Farmer is his account of India’s agricultural transformation.
